LIGHTEN THE DARKNESS - QUOTES & VERSES

QUOTES & VERSES - A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

It is quite normal for us to listen to or read quotes from great personalities.  Parents, teachers, relatives and sometimes friends quote these that have been handed down through decades as they go by.  Verses from the holy books also continue to inspire, lead and guide, ever since they were written.

Collecting quotes from my teachers (at home and at school) was a hobby as much as collecting stamps or coins were to my siblings.  These were the quotes that appealed to me during that time.  Times have changed, and now beside quotes and verses there are Affirmations, switchwords, etc. a lot more accessible now.

Little did I know that these would be the base from which I would derive my strength in going through my toughest times.

My mother told me that she did not like the sight of me, when I was born and that I could not be her baby.  The nurse was shocked and refused to let her see me until I had recovered (which was for almost a month) and was a normal baby with beautiful soft and silky hair.  For years this rejection had hurt me.

Along life's journey, we live through such instances and we keep going and growing along the way.  Some of the quotes that inspired me along my journey .....

"Reject your sense of injury and the injury itself disappears"  -  Marcus Aurelius

When I was about eleven, I lost my hair, which everyone admired and wished they had the same.  No medical treatment could help me regrow the hair I had lost.  I felt unappreciated, opportunities were lost, I thought I had to accept whatever I received, as I had no other choice.  Amongst all these negative thoughts that tormented me, I saw a candle, a lighthouse.  You could be light in the darkness, that which you have already been through, and that is your strength.  You are the beauty, that enhances  and enlightens.
